UEM Group Berhad (UEM Group), Malaysia’s leading engineering-based infrastructure and services conglomerate is teaming up with Microsoft Malaysia to drive its digital cloud-based initiatives to improve service delivery.
This is part of the UEM Group’s RM150 million, three-year integrated Enterprise Resource Planning Cloud solution which Group managing editor (MD) and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Izzaddin Idris introduced in October last year.
For the next three years, UEM Group together with its subsidiaries will work with Microsoft to initiate and implement digital initiatives based on cutting edge technologies leveraging on the Internet of Things (IoT), predictive data analytics, machine learning and augmented reality.
Izzaddin said the collaboration would enhance the Group’s collection of data for analytics and the use of cloud-based machine learning for prediction and anomaly detection.
“As buildings, highways, factories and entire cities become smarter with ubiquitous computing and ambient intelligent environments, digital solutions are key.
“With Microsoft by our side, we will be able to increase efficiency and productivity as we will have the capability to respond better to the changes and needs of our customers - ultimately improving customer experience,” he said at the UEM Group-Microsoft Digital Initiative signing ceremony held at Mercu UEM, Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, UEM Edgenta Bhd, the Group’s total asset solution entity which has already implemented Microsoft’s advanced tools in its smart facilities management solutions has reaped savings as a result of reduced costs associated with routine inspection, maintenance and delivery.
“We have extracted savings of between 18% and 20% in building management costs,” UEM Edgenta Berhad MD/CEO Azmir Merican said.
Representing Microsoft Malaysia was MD K. Raman while CEO of Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) Datuk Yasmin Mahmood witnessed the signing ceremony.
