Bank Rakyat said today it is conducting an internal probe against the six employees involved in the alleged falsifying of personal loan approval documents in the Likas and Kota Kinabalu branches in Sabah.

It said in a statement that stern action would be taken against them if they were found to be guilty, and that would include termination of service.

"At the same time, Bank Rakyat's banking operations continue as usual and are not affected by the issue," the statement said.

The statement said the bank will continue to cooperate with the authorities in the ongoing investigations.

Last Thursday, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in Sabah arrested seven officers and a former employee of a bank on suspicion of falsifying bank loan documents. -- Bernama
