MUDA's move comes after prosecutors last week dropped dozens of charges against Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Dr Mahathir Mohamad does not believe a multiracial youth party headed by his former protege Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman will be successful.

At a press conference in Putrajaya today, Mahathir said he did not know why Syed Saddiq wanted to form a youth party and did not find it a viable model.

Prof Dr.Nik Ahmad Kamal Nik Mahmod said any individual or group who plan to form a new youth-based party should make their mission clear in order to survive the current political landscape.

He said parties under BN were still capable of safeguarding the voices and wishes of the young group.

She said there was enough divisiveness when suddenly, "everybody is saying, you are a woman or a man, Indian, Malay, Chinese, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist or Hindu".
