The Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) encourages the wearing of face masks to the mosque and surau to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today unveiled tougher measures to control the spread of Covid-19, this includes the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in six states - Penang, Selangor, Federal Territories (Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan), Melaka, Johor and Sabah - for 14 days, from Wednesday until January 26.

Another six states - Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan - will be under the ongoing conditional MCO.

The Recovery MCO will be enforced in Perlis and Sarawak for the same period.

The Seremban district in Negeri Sembilan will be placed under the conditional movement control order (MCO) between Nov 5 to Nov 18 to curb the spread of Covid-19.

This was decided by the National Security Council (NSC) today.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry reported 1,054 new Covid-19 cases and a record-setting 12 deaths in a 24-hour period ending noon today.

A conditional movement control order (MCO) will be imposed in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Selangor effective from 12.01am on October 14 until the October 27.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob the decision was reached at a special National Security Council meeting, after receiving the advice of the Health Ministry (MOH) and taking into consideration the increasing cases and spread of Covid-19 such as in Klang, Petaling and Gombak.

Ismail also asid that the government will implement the CMCO throughout Sabah effective from 12.01am on October 13 until October 26.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin revealed that the government is considering making the use of face masks compulsory to further curb the spread of Covid-19.

Muhyiddin warned that if Covid-19 infections were to increase again, then the government would be forced to impose another lockdown and the economy would suffer.

Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham said the country today recorded 21 new cases.

The SPM examination will continue as scheduled, with standard operating procedures (SOP) in place to curb the spread of COVID-19 among students and teachers.

UMNO is confident that the Election Commission (EC) will come up with recommendations to ensure that the Johor state election can be held safely in the midst of the COVID-19 Omicron wave.
