The overwhelming bulk of economic and social activities have been completely shut down. And yet, the number of COVID-19 cases have continued to spiral very rapidly.

Dr Izani said the sharp rise in daily COVID-19 positive cases again in Kelantan has placed the state in a dire situation.

It is evident from data released by the MOH on June 21 that 69 pct of COVID-19 cases recorded this year until June 19 were sporadic cases.

Three main categories that contributed to the sharp rise are existing clusters, close contacts and sporadic cases.

The Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) which is currently implemented in some areas of the red zone is very helpful to the medical team in detecting sporadic cases.

While the incidence of infections is decreasing, the Ministry of Health (MOH) will continue to carry out COVID-19 infection detection activities.

Malaysia has recorded 69 COVID-19 sporadic cases so far in which its origin and source of infection are unknown, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
