A one-metre deep sinkhole at the entrance to the Bunga Raya Complex, KLIA, is suspected to have been caused by a sewage pipe leak.

Datuk Seri Dr. Maimunah Mohd Sharif said only a 200-meter path from Wisma Yakin to the police hut is currently closed with barriers.

ACP Sulizme Affendy Sulaiman said the family left for home after the operation on search and rescue (SAR) was called off.

Each inspection is carried out by the members involved for almost 30 minutes, to find, track and identify the whereabouts of the victim.

Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad said this decision was made after nearly 30 minutes of diving by two scuba divers today proved unsuccessful.

The SAR operation is still focused on efforts to clear a 'backlog' or 15-metre blockage detected in the sewer lines below Wisma Yakin.

KL mayor said the GPR method will remain in use as the primary focus is to find the victim as quickly as possible.

SAR operation to find the sinkhole victim will continue to focus around the main location of the incident in Jalan Masjid India.

Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the inspection is being carried out to ensure public safety and to identify the cause of the subsidence in the affected area.

Pedestrians can still use the unaffected part of the road, and surrounding shops remain open as usual.

The City Mayor stated that, as a precautionary measure, the sinkhole area has been secured with safety tape and a water barrier.

As of noon today, there has been no positive indication of the victim's whereabouts at the site.
