Serian district remains the worst affected, with 785 evacuees from 255 families recorded so far.

However, with fine weather forecast for today, more victims are expected to return to their respective homes.

Another two flood evacuation centres were closed this afternoon, one each in Samarahan and Serian districts.

As at noon today, the evacuation centre at the Ranting Desa Wira PBB Operations Centre which sheltered 40 flood victims has been closed.

A total of 245 flood victims from 52 families were sheltered at six evacuation centres in the Kuching and Samarahan Divisions as at 8am today.

More people were evacuated in flood-hit Sarawak, raising the number of evacuees to 975 as of noon from 523 in the morning.

The Selangau District in the Sibu Division has the highest number of victims with 866 from 221 families.

The floods in Sarawak on Sunday night is improving with 36 less victims at the evacuation centres presently sheltering 1,063 people.

Floods in Sarawak worsens with the number of evacuees rising by 3,151 people this evening to 10,103 compared with 6,952 victims in the afternoon.
