Leading APEC through Change - The legacy and leadership
APEC has been at the forefront of shaping regional economic integration and cooperation for over three decades. Amidst challenges like the global pandemic, shifting geopolitical landscapes, and economic transitions, APEC has played a pivotal role in driving collaboration among its 21 member economies.
At the heart of these efforts over the past five years has been Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, a trailblazing Malaysian leader, who has served as the Executive Director of the APEC Secretariat since 2019.
Dr. Sta Maria’s leadership has not only steered the organization through turbulent global shifts but has also strengthened the focus on inclusion, digitalization, and sustainable growth within the APEC framework. As she enters the final year of her second term, this moment is especially significant in reflecting on her legacy and contributions.
