#KiniNews: With MCO, M'sia flattens Covid-19 curve

Malaysia has succeeded in flattening the infection curve and is now in the recovery phase to stamp out the Covid-19 pandemic, according to Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said this is based on the examination of the predictive model, where the data on April 3 was 217 new cases but the ministry did not see any further peak since then.

The ministry had initially braced for a peak on April 14 of 6,300 new cases but this figure was not seen.

Malaysia may have flattened the Covid-19 infection curve thanks to the implementation of the movement control order (MCO).

However, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the government is still working to reduce the number of new infections.

Malaysia today reported 168 recoveries and 134 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24-hours. This puts the total number of cases at 4,817, with a slight reduction in active cases to 2,464. This means, over 47% of Covid-19 patients have recovered to date.
