The Health Ministry is monitoring if any Covid-19 cases or clusters will emerge from the large gathering of Najib Abdul Razak's supporters outside the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex yesterday.

"It has been seven months since we have worked day and night, shed tears and sweat in our effort to prepare (for this pandemic)".

"We were disappointed and sad when we saw the gathering. I am not involved in politics but it's about following the SOPs," he said when asked about public concerns over the rally.

Any signs of a new virus cluster would manifest within the next two weeks as per the Covid-19 incubation period, he cautioned.

Daily cases could still climb as the Delta variant, first identified in India, has a two-to three-week incubation period.

The expected number of daily cases a week ago was due to exposure to the virus during the incubation period and now the cases could be detected.

COVID-19 cases involving an incubation period of more than 14 days have never been reported in the country, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

They were likely to get the COVID-19 infection from the participants of the tabligh gathering.

According to the MOH, the cluster of a private dinner function at SAFRA Jurong on Feb 15 has now been closed as there have been no more cases for the past two incubation periods.
