#KiniNews: 313 books seized in police raid, publisher apologises

The police raided a company in Petaling Jaya linked to a controversial book cover which featured an image resembling the national coat of arms.

Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director Huzir Mohamed said they seized 313 copies of the book during the raid.

Meanwhile, Gerakbudaya director Chong Tong Sin told Malaysiakini he had given his statement to the police at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters today.

Earlier, Chong had issued an apology to anyone offended by the cover.

#KiniNews: Controversial book cover gets on home minister’s radar

The Home Ministry has ordered the police to probe a party which was said to have duplicated the national coat of arms.

Its minister, Hamzah Zainudin said it is an offence to imitate the coat of arms under Section 3(1)(a) of the Emblems and Names Act 1963.

"I have instructed the police to carry out the investigation and to take stern action immediately.

"The government will not compromise with any party who performed this unpatriotic and irresponsible act," Hamzah said in his Facebook posting today.
