The Malaysian Code of Ethics for Journalists is not intended to control or prevent any journalist from reporting news.

Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said this code of ethics requires industry players to conduct their duties in a professional and ethical way.

The code of ethics, sets out eight responsibilities including validity and accuracy of information as well as privacy of sources.

Fahmi Fadzil said it outlines eight fundamental ethics that underscore the responsibilities and standards expected of journalists.
