The agreement to hold talks with nurses meant a 48-hour strike planned by the RCN for March 1 was cancelled.

British nurses will intensify their industrial action next month with lengthier strikes involving previously exempt staff, their union said.

The Royal College of Nursing had already said that nurses would walk out on Dec. 15 and 20, the first such action in its 100-year history.

The RCN said its members have faced a decade of real-terms pay cuts and that the ballot over the last four weeks was the biggest in history.

The country's telecommunications regulator called for RCN and Caracol Television to be taken off the air for broadcasting a message it said incited Maduro's murder.
