WHEN it comes to education, deciding what’s best for our children is no easy task.
Each student possess different learning skills and trying to know what works for them can be very challenging.
From conventional tuition centres to private tutoring and homeschooling, urban parents are spoilt for choice, but how do we decide which is the most effective for our kids?
ONE-STOP CENTRE
Understanding the dilemma that parents go through, seasoned educator Steven Shorthose came up with INtuition, a one-stop tuition centre that strives to provide a holistic learning experience.
A math teacher by profession, Shorthose has more than two decades worth of experience teaching at Garden International School, British School Manila and The Alice Smith School.
INtuition was established in June 2018 with the aim to transform the conventional tuition industry landscape into a more engaging and nurturing learning environment, in line with the Government's objective to transform Malaysia into a hub for international education.
The centre's teaching approach focuses on effective ways of learning rather than solely on the content itself.
Students from primary level right up to A-Level are open to enrol in the different learning platforms which include small-sized classes on various school subjects, language programmes, exam revision classes, homeschooling and also private tutoring for those who need extra support.
STUDENT-TEACHER RELATIONSHIP
For the students, one of the centre’s most captivating aspects is the relationship they have with the tutors.
Eleven-year-old Andrew, who is enrolled in math class at INtuition, said his tutors would ensure students receive undivided attention.
As for Lewis, a 19-year-old who is taking up English classes at INtuition, he lauds the centre's organised structure and transparent administrative system that utilises multiple communication channels, including class reminders via instant messaging apps.
For eight-year-old Arief, learning at INtuition has been nothing short of fun. He especially enjoys the science class where exciting experiments are conducted.
SECURED LOCATION
Located in the centre of upscale Mont Kiara, INtuition boasts a private car park and private drop off road as well as glass window classrooms and CCTV in every room to address any child protection issues.
It is also near international schools and residential areas which makes it easier for students to attend classes directly after school or from home.
"It is in a really good condition and it is very spacious. The ambiance is great for students to focus on our studies," said Zeeshan, 14.
"Previously, I have been to some pretty rundown tuition centres but it is totally different here. It is really comfortable," he added.
TOP-NOTCH TUTORS
To maintain the highest standards, all tutors are screened to ensure that only those of the highest calibre are qualified to teach at the centre.
Additionally, parents are also encouraged to meet with the tutors before enrolling their kids. This helps to create familiarity and to ensure that a connection between student and tutor is established.
ADDED VALUE PROGRAMMES
Besides the tuition services offered, INtuition is also the first tuition centre that offers Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) to students of all ages.
Under a collaboration with the Chinese Government, the centre will receive four teachers from China – sponsored by the Chinese Government – to provide tuition in HSK syllabus and Chinese culture to the students.
