Rentetan insiden pelarian Rohingya mengundang pelbagai persoalan dan menjadi topik trending di Twitter.
Krisis yang melanda etnik minoriti Myanmar, Rohingya bukanlah sesuatu yang baharu lantaran ia sudah bermula sejak beberapa dekad lalu.
Hanya pada tahun 2012 ketika rusuhan negeri Rakhine (tanah air asal Rohingya) barulah masalah ini mendapat perhatian dunia. Sesetengah menyifatkan krisis ini adalah salah satu rancangan penghapusan etnik.
Sejak beberapa hari lalu, ribuan pelarian Rohingya dari Bangladesh dan Myanmar dilaporkan terkandas di Selat Melaka dan perairan antarabangsa.
Kebanyakan mereka tiada arah tujuan berikutan Myanmar tidak mengiktiraf kerakyatan malah kawalan ketat pihak berkuasa Malaysia, Thailand dan Indonesia menghalang kemasukkan mereka ke negara lain.

Lantas, ribuan pendatang yang kebanyakannya minoriti Islam Rohingya dipercayai terkandas di tengah lautan selepas ditinggalkan sindiket pemerdagangan manusia.
Rentetan insiden ini mengundang pelbagai persoalan dan menjadi topik trending di Twitter. Ternyata ramai netizen yang mempersoal tindakan negara-negara Asean yang rata-ratanya memilih ‘jalan selamat’ apabila berhadapan isu pelarian Rohingya ini.

Kebanyakan pengguna Twitter melahirkan rasa simpati dan kasihan dengan nasib pendatang-pendatang ini yang ditolak dan mengharapkan belas kasihan negara-negara lain.

Not even a month ago, ASEAN leaders came to Malaysia and pledged for an "ASEAN Community". Look to the seas and see what they mean by that.

Dianggarkan lebih 6,000 pendatang asing etnik Rohingya yang terdiri daripada wanita, kanak-kanak dan warga emas menjadi pelarian selepas meninggalkan Myanmar menggunakan bot.
Bekas menteri luar Malaysia, Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar turut menyuarakan kebimbangan mengenai isu ini. Menerusi akaun Twitternya, beliau merayu agar Putrajaya menyelamatkan pelarian Rohingya yang terkandas di pesisiran pantai Malaysia.
