The Regent of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has welcomed the decision by Tan Sri Annuar Musa to pull out of the race for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president's post.
The former FAM president said it was a wise move by Annuar, who is the advisor to the FA of Kelantan, as it would smoothen the way to transform Malaysian football.
"It is a good thing (Annuar pulling out). My hope is that the quality of Malaysian football will improve and all parties will help in the effort," he told reporters after closing the Tengku Mahkota Pahang Cup East Coast Tomoi Championship here last night.
Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who transformed Johor club Johor Darul Ta'zim into a household name in Asia, won the president's post unopposed following Annuar pulling out from the race at the eleventh hour.
