After a disappointing performance in the team event at the 27th SEA Games, the national sepak takraw squad fought hard to advance to the final in the men's inter regu event at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium Sunday.
The progress to the final by the national squad comprising Izurin Refin, Mohd Hanafiah Dolah and Mohd Muqlis was an improvement from the 2011 SEA Games in Indonesia when they only won the bronze in the event.
The Malaysian squad brushed aside the challenge put up by the Myanmar team represented by Aung Pyah Tun, Kyaw Soe Win and Aung Myo Swe with 21-12, 21-15.
Speaking to reporters after the match, team coach Jamaluddin Hassan praised the performance put up by the Malaysian team.
