Taekwondo Malaysia (TM) is optimistic its national exponents will display excellent showmanship despite the new ruling and system to be applied at the upcoming 29th SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur.
Its deputy president, Mohd Nazifuddin Mohd Najib said the new system would certainly not hamper the performance of the athletes as TM was confident of obtaining a four-gold medal target at the SEA Games.
"TM has sent the national squad to undergo intensive training in South Korea and it's not impossible for them to knock down some surprise medals.
"The 13th ASEAN Taekwondo Championship here that ended today, serves as one of the 'warm up' sessions for the exponents before the SEA Games," he told reporters after the closing ceremony of the championship here today.
