Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today urged all Malaysians to offer strong moral support for National athletes who will be representing the country at the 29th Kuala Lumpur SEA Games and 9th ASEAN Para Games, in August and September.

The Prime Minister said athletes have been able to unite the country and stimulate the spirit of the people, regardless of whether they win or lose.

"Let us all stand firmly behind our heroes by giving them moral support so that it will serve as a tonic to boost their performances and excel in whatever sports they compete.

"With the spirit of Malaysia Boleh, 'Insya-Allah' there will be success and the Negaraku can be heard regularly," said Najib in his latest official blog posting on Tuesday.

Najib said he was also delighted and satisfied to see National athletes preparing and training diligently for the SEA Games as well as the ASEAN Para Games and sharing their experiences on social media.

"After my visit to the Sports City, I am confident that the upgrading of infrastructure and facilities at the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil, like the National Stadium, Aquatic Centre and Axiata Arena, will ensure success in both the major events, 'insya-Allah'," said Najib.

Najib said the government had allocated RM450 million specifically for hosting the SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games.

"This clearly shows the government's commitment to promote and develop sports which is a symbol and unifying factor for unity among all races in the country, regardless of race, religion or culture," said Najib.
