Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah participated in the inaugural Raja Permaisuri Agong charity golf tournament at the The Mines Resort & Golf Club this morning.
Her Majesty was met on arrival at 7.15am by the Tunku Panglima Besar Kedah, Tunku Puteri Intan Shafinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim and tournament's chairman, Tunku Puteri Datuk Seri Jawahir Tuanku Ja'afar before the tee-off at 8am.
More than 80 participants from the business circle and dignitaries are taking part in the tournament organised by the Malaysian Ladies Golf Association (Malga) and Sultanah Haminah Orphans Foundation (YASH).
Tunku Puteri Jawahir, who is also Malga president, said the tournament was to raise funds for the YASH.
"Malga's activities are also in line with the YASH's objective to develop golf as a sport among children from the rural areas, particularly girls who have a knack for the game but cannot afford the costs," she said.
