The Perlis government has repeated its assurance that the swimming pool and badminton hall for the 17th Malaysia Games (Sukma) will be fully ready and handed over by May 15.

Menteri Besar Azlan Man said only the two venues were not fully completed while the rest of the arenas were ready.

He was not worried with the unfinished venues including obtaining the approval of the international sports bodies adding the negative speculation by certain parties was to test the state government's capability.

"Obtaining approval for the venues does not arise as all changes were made according to specifications of the sports bodies concerned as well as in compliance with international requirements," he old reporters after delivering a message to Perlis Sukma volunteers, here on Saturday.

Azlan said several facilities only needed touch-ups and cosmetic changes to comply with international standards.

The games involving 24 events from May 24 to June 4 will be officiated by the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to close the biennial games.
