Malaysia Cup: Kedah, Terengganu, Selangor last three to quarter-finals

Kedah, Terengganu and Selangor booked the last three slots in the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Cup competition after the group stage came to an end Wednesday night.
Kedah's do-or-die mission to book a quarter-final berth paid off when they defeated Perak 2-0 who were trying the same at the Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar.
Kedah's first goal came in the 71st minute through a header by Billy Mehmet Osman while Badrol Bakhtiar sealed victory with their second two minutes later.
Kedah emerged as the champions of Group B with 10 points while Terengganu were runners-up with nine points.
At the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu, despite the match between Terengganu and Sarawak ending in a 0-0 draw, it was good enough for the hosts to advance to the quarter-finals.
At the Shah Alam Stadium, Selangor edged T-Team 1-0 with the goal coming through Paulo Rangel in the 25th minute.
The result put the Red Giants in the runner-up position in Group D with 10 points.
Police, the champions of Group D, were the first team to book a place in the their quarter-finals.
They defeated Sime Darby 3-1 at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi Wednesday night to finish with 16 points overall.
Sime Darby were the first to score when Mateo Roskam converted a penalty in the 7th minute while Police's goals were netted by Ashfaq Ali (23rd), Chad Charles Sauza (81st) and Bobby Gonzales (89th).
