The Klang Premiere Century Ride 2016 (KPCR 2016) which was scheduled to be held on Sunday (June 5) has been postponed to July 31.

The postponement was due to the initial date clashing with the nomination day for the Sungai Besar by-election, said the organiser in a statement today.

KPCR is co-hosted by the Klang Selatan Police District Headquarters and IPD Kuala Langat.

"Approximately 1,500 participants are expected, out of which 1,000 will be allotted for the 135km Premiere Century Ride, while the remaining 500 will participate in the 18km Fun Ride.

"The resources and support of the authorities are required for the nomination day. As such, given that safety is of utmost priority for the cycling event and after consulting with the race organisers and relevant authorities,
all parties have agreed to postpone the event accordingly. Any inconvenience caused is much regretted," said the event's title sponsor Premiere Hotel Klang in a statement.

Registration for KPCR 2016 had closed on April 25.
