Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar does not want to interfere in the selection of players for the Malaysian Thomas Cup squad and has confidence in the evaluation by the technical director of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), Morten Frost Hansen.
Khairy said he believed Frost had strong grounds on the selection of players representing the country to the Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China from May 15 to 22.
"The selection of players is left entirely to the technical director. Give Frost a chance to make the decision, so I will not interfere in the matter. Frost has his own evaluation by not selecting professional player, Zulfadli Zulkiffli.
"Zulfadli has made his statement based on his world ranking, but I believe Frost too has certain evaluation based on several other factors and not on world ranking alone," he told the media here.
The former 2011 World Junior Champion was not listed even though he holds Malaysia's third best singles player currently based on his world ranking.
Frost had listed Chong Wei Feng and Goh Soon Huat as the third and fourth singles behind Datuk Lee Chong Wei and Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin based on their experience in team championship.
