Kuala Lumpur’s Mohammed 'Jordan Boy' Bin Mahmoud will put his Muay Thai skills to the test at ONE: FOR HONOR in Jakarta, Indonesia against Scotland’s Andrew Miller on 3 May.
The three-round ONE Super Series Bantamweight Muay Thai contest will be one of six preliminary bouts set to feature in this blockbuster event.
Mohammed, fresh out of his ONE: A NEW ERA battle against Panicos Yusuf, said he is fired up for his latest outing and is raring to bring back a win for Malaysia in 2019.
“I’ll try my best to return home with a win for my fans and country, Malaysia,” the 22-year-old ONE Championship martial artist promised.
“We’ve had a rather unfortunate year, but Keanu Subba and I should shine in Jakarta.”
His latest opponent Miller has spent most of his professional career training in Thailand, currently residing at the Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya.
Despite Miller being surrounded by better athletes, Mohammed is certain he still owns a slight advantage over the 27-year-old Scotsman.
“He trains at a top training camp and is a very good athlete too. He’s spent a lot of years in Thailand, but based on his previous matches, I’m confident that I can find a hole or two in his game,” the Sampuri Muay Thai Gym athlete confessed.
“His biggest advantage is probably his height, but my coach and I have identified his weakness, and we’ll see whether that theory is right in Jakarta.”
Mohammed’s mission in Jakarta is pretty straight forward – to re-enact his spectacular first-round knockout in December last year.
“Jordan Boy” knows his aim in the past two outings did not come up to scratch, and that is why he has chosen to train at one of Kuala Lumpur’s top martial arts gym for his test in Jakarta on 3 May.
“My last camp in Thailand was beneficial for my energy and kicking, but it did not teach me new techniques. What they thought there were basic yet effective Muay Thai moves.”
“At Monarchy MMA I’ve got a better training team, and I can learn some kickboxing too, which is a new style to me. Training with Conrado Furlan has given me better knowledge and conditioning, and I must say I’m in better shape than I was a month ago.”
