The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has ordered three state football associations to pay RM120,000 in compensation to coaches whose services were terminated prematurely.
The FAM ordered the Terengganu FA to pay former coach Mat Zan Mat Aris, Penang FA to pay coach Robert Scully and Perlis FA to compensate coach Mohd Nidzam Adha Yusoff.
FAM Player Status Committee chairman Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the three FAs would have to pay the compensation within one month of receiving a letter from the FAM.
"If they cannot settle their respective amount, the money would be deducted from their annual grant. However, all three FAs can make an appeal," he told reporters at Wisma FAM here today.
Meanwhile, Takiyuddin reminded players who wished to play for other teams to buy out their remaining duration of their contract.
Takiyuddin said one example was Kelantan striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha who is said to be interested in a move to Johor next season.
"Norshahrul must pay the Kelantan FA for the remainder of his contract period. If he does not pay, the team that he wished to join may decide to pay on his behalf," he said.
Johor were said to be interested in Norshahrul.
