After clinching the country's first gold medal in the 27th SEA Games in 2013, wushu exponent Diana Bong Siong Lin wants to repeat the same feat at the 17th Asian Games here.

Diana, 29, is keeping her fingers crossed to deliver the first gold medal for the national contingent when the Nandao and Nanquan events start today.

She and bronze medalist, Tai Cheau Xuan would be competing in the events at Dolmens Ganghwa Gymnasium about 51km from the Games Village, here.

As the champion in the 12th Word Championships in Kuala Lumpur last year, Diana said she did not want to let slip the opportunity to grab the gold medal after being placed at the fifth spot in the Guangzhou edition, in China in 2010.

"In Guangzhou...I made several errors which cost me precious points and I will definitely be very careful this time," she told Bernama here on Friday.

The 2006 Doha Asian Games bronze medallist said she has been training intensively to improve her performance and hopes it will pay off.
