Former world number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei fought his way into the China Open Superseries Premier quarterfinals after beating seeded number six Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei at the Haixia Olympic Sports Center.

He took 64 minutes to defeat his opponent 21-9, 15-21, 21-12 in the second round match Thursday.

He will face world number two Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark who beat qualifier Guo Kai in straight sets 21-19 and 21-19.

If Chong Wei makes it past the quarterfinal match, he is expected to meet Lin Dan of China, who is world number three, or Hu Yun of Hong Kong.

World number one Chen Long of China has beaten Hsu Jen Hao of Chinese Taipei to move into the quarterfinal match, according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) tournament website http://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/.
