KUALA LUMPUR: Gua Musang Member of Parliament (MP), Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah or Ku Li has openly stated to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that he has lost confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
According to sources, the matter was personally informed by the Kelantan prince to Dr Mahathir in a dinner meeting between the two veteran political leaders at Ku Li's residence, about a month ago.
"The meeting has nothing (serious) to discuss. It happened about a month ago and was just a regular dinner.
“But he (Ku Li) no longer has confidence in Muhyiddin's government. He told that (to Dr Mahathir). That is why if you notice, in the last motion before this, he (Ku Li), was not present, " he told Astro AWANI recently.
In addition, another source close to Ku Li and Dr Mahathir confirmed that there were efforts and consultations conducted to form a collaboration between the two political veterans.
On September 25, Ku Li sent a letter to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun asking to prioritise Dr Mahathir's motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister's leadership.
Ku Li said Dr Mahathir Mohamad claimed that Muhyiddin did not allow the motion to be debated twice by listing it at the end of the debate list.
He said, in that way the debate on the motion was obstructed as well as voting on it could not be carried out by the Dewan Rakyat.
Azhar later on September 29 replied to the letter and explained that the allegation that the Prime Minister did not allow the motion of no confidence to be debated by listing it at the end of the Order of the Meeting was untrue.
He explained Rule 15 of the Standing Orders of Dewan Rakyat are that the affairs of the government should take precedence over other matters.
Meanwhile, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) pro-tem information chief Dr Maszlee Malik in a statement today said the party’s pro-tem committee meeting on 15 October 2020 has decided that the five Pejuang MPs would bring a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister.
