FATHUL BARI: Umno should take advantage of the conflict in PKR to woo its members, particularly the youth, into Umno or Barisan Nasional as their votes will be crucial in GE14.
Umno members must unite and accept every decision made by the top party leadership to avoid splitting and weakening the party.
Umno Youth exco Fathul Bari Mat Jahaya said any internal conflict should be resolved amicably.
"Refer it to the top leadership rather than make a rash decision," he said while opening the Youth, Wanita and Puteri Umno delegates' meeting here yesterday.
He said it would be difficult for Umno to win the confidence of voters if members could not settle their differences appropriately.
He said Umno should take advantage of the conflict in PKR to woo its members, particularly the youth, into Umno or Barisan Nasional.
"We do not deny the important role of the youth in the 14th general election (GE14) in determining the next government," he said.
Meanwhile in GEORGE TOWN, Umno Supreme Council Member Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the party must be united in facing three major challenges in the new political landscape.
He said Umno has to be seen as relevant for the 60 to 70 percent of Malaysians aged 40 and below, who would be casting their votes in GE14.
He said rural-urban migrants, particularly the youth, could be easily influenced by the contents of social media.
"In this regard, every Umno member must feel responsible to explain the party's policy and constitution to the masses through debates, interviews, forums and seminars," he said.
He told this to 200 party members at the Umno Jelutong delegates' meeting here Saturday.
