Supporters of contesting parties in the Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election are advised to behave in a disciplined manner on the nomination day Sunday.
Police media relations officer for the Sungai Besar by-election ACP Khalil Ariffin said more than 1,000 security personnel will be deployed Sunday in the vicinity of Dewan Sri Bernam, the nomination centre for the by-election.
"We advise supporters marching tomorrow morning to refrain from doing anything provocative or causing disturbances during the nomination process," he said when contacted by Bernama here Saturday.
Asked about the ban on the use of drones (unmanned aerial vehicle) for filming purposes, Khalil said they would monitor its use, as long as those using it gets a permit from the regulatory body.
Police have also set specific areas for party supporters to gather tomorrow. The gathering place for Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters is in Jalan Menteri, PAS supporters in Jalan LPN, while Parti Amanah Negara supporters will gather in front of the party office in Sungai Besar town.
The by-election is being held following the death of Sungai Besar member of Parliament and Plantation Industries and Commodities Deputy Minister Datuk Noriah Kasnon in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak on May 5.
