NOORAZLI: Relinquish your post in UMNO after two terms.
UMNO leaders who have held the post for more than two terms, or about 10 years, have been urged to give way to new faces in the party.
This is to ensure the party’s strength is maintained especially in its quest to recapture seats lost during the 13th General Elections.
Sepang UMNO Youth chief, Noorazli Said said, this factor is seen as the catalyst in ensuring a victory for UMNO in the next General Election.
“The requests involve positions at the grassroots level, divisional party committee members, divisional chiefs, Supreme Council members and even the president’s post.
“There are many old faces in UMNO, and we want this to change. This motion is the answer to this change,” he told Astro AWANI after the Sepang UMNO Divisional meeting here today.
Noorazli was commenting on the situation where several UMNO leaders who have held posts within the party for decades and seemed reluctant to give way to fresh faces.
He added, the motion is expected to be brought to the highest level within the party and discussed in detail.
Noorazli stressed, this is the basis for real reform as championed by the party leadership for years.
“If it cannot be put in the party’s constitution, it should then be made as a consensus that should be followed.
“To those concerned, resign honourably, maybe resign for a higher position in the party or just to simply give way to new faces,” he said.
He explained that this is being practiced by the opposition parties apart from describing it as an act that yielded positive results.
Meanwhile UMNO Youth Deputy chief, Khairul Azwan Harun said, the motion will be brought to the attention of the party leadership.
“This is the voice from the grassroot level, as a member of the UMNO Supreme Council and also as the Youth wing’s Deputy Chief, I will bring this motion for review by the party leadership.
“This is what the party members at the grassroot level and even the people want, and if the party leaders feel it should be implemented, it would,” he said.
Earlier in his speech, Khairul Azwan said, the UMNO Youth wing should always be aware of issues involving the party apart from being a force to be reckoned with.
