The nomination process for the Sungai Besar, Selangor and Kuala Kangsar, Perak by-elections were carried out this morning.

The nomination centres were open from 9am to 10 am.

In the case of the Sungai Besar by-election, the nomination process was held at the Dewan Seri Bernam, Sabak Bernam, while in Kuala Kangsar, it was held at the Dewan Jubli Perak, Kuala Kangsar.

The by-elections for both constituencies are being held following the deaths of their incumbents, Tan Sri Noriah Kasnon for Sungai Besar, and Datuk Wan Mohammad Khair-il Anuar Wan Ahmad for Kuala Kangsar, in a helicopter crash in Sebuyau, Sarawak on May 5.

The Sungai Besar parliamentary constituency has 42,655 registered voters comprising 42,365 ordinary voters, 286 early voters and four absentee voters who are overseas.

Meanwhile in the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary constituency, there are 32,949 people who are eligible to vote according to SPR's voter registry, as of May 7.
