NOH: Am not only confident that BN can defend all its seats in the next GE, but gain new seats as well.
Tan Sri Noh Omar today rubbished claims by former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that UMNO was bound to lose 45 parliamentary seats in the impending 14th general election (GE14).
The Selangor UMNO liaison committee chairman said anyone could make that claim.
He said he was not only confident that Barisan Nasional (BN) would defend the seats it won in the last general election, but gain new seats as well.
"Look at Selangor, for example. So many issues plaguing the rakyat. But I believe with the unity that we have, Barisan Nasional is able to wrest back the state in the next GE," he said after attending the Subang UMNO delegates meeting here.
Also present at the meeting was UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who was carrying out his duties as acting deputy president.
Muhyiddin, who was UMNO deputy president before he was expelled from the party along with Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir last June, had on Friday claimed that the Opposition has the potential to snatch 45 seats in GE14, of which most were held by BN.
He said all that was needed was a four percent shift in voters. He said based on a simulation of the polls conducted by ‘experts’ he had picked, this was a shoo-in, provided all the Opposition unite and contest against BN in straight fights.
