There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the ongoing dispute between them drags on, for Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin, at least.
He said this was because knowing the former premier, he (Dr Mahathir) would not stop until his objective is achieved.
“Dr Mahathir knows what he’s doing. He’s the type who wouldn’t bother about those who create brouhaha for personal gains, but he would speak out on things he truly believes in.
“As for Najib, I believe he would utilise whatever power of incumbency he has to retain both his power and position. These two leaders each have their own ways.
“Honestly, I really don’t see how or when this matter will end,” he told Astro AWANI when contacted Thursday.

Zainuddin was asked to elaborate on the ongoing controversy surrounding the two political bigwigs, following his comment on his blog post on .
In his blog (zamkata.blogspot.com) the 75-year-old Zainuddin had commented on the country's number one entertainer, Datuk Siti Nurhaliza’s statement of support for Dr Mahathir on her Instagram.
Popular actress Rozita Che Wan, also fondly known as Che' Ta also expressed her support for Dr Mahathir on her own Instagram account earlier this week.
Zainuddin said he was surprised that his blog had actually sparked controversy.
When asked why he suddenly decided to blog about political matters when at one point he said he wouldn’t anymore, the former information minister said, “writing keeps my mind fresh.”
That, and also because due to public demand, he said.
“Yes, I did say that I wasn’t going to write about politics and I'm still not.
“In this (Najib-Mahathir) matter, I’m only touching on the surface of things. If I were to fully delve into politics, it would only be on the historical side of it – on our past leaders and how they strive to build this nation and such,” said Zainuddin.

He said he had never thought himself as a fighter but merely a journalist with no intention of undermining any leader.
Zainuddin also said he is not financially strong to face any consequences should he encounter any problems with the law because of his jottings.
"I want to exercise my mind ... and of course due to public demand. I have never regard myself as a fighter, I always see myself as someone who's into journalism. But if my writing creates impact, then I'm thankful," he said.
However, Zainuddin mentioned that he will reveal the real reason why he stopped blogging on politics like he announced in January this year.
"Not now," he said.
