The National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) has yet to receive any request from the Election Commission (EC) to prepare the MySejahtera app for use during the Sabah state election on Sept 26.

NACSA chief executive officer Mohd Shah Nuri Md Zain said during the previous state by-election, the MySejahtera app was used as a technical assistance for the voters' registration system in place of the conventional method.

"We will place the MySejahtera code in adequate distance for the voters to scan...to ease their registration process, that's all. Or else, the voters' registration will have to be done in writing.

"We will come and help the process in Sabah polls only upon the EC's request. At least the polling centres won't be so crowded during voters' registration."

He said this to reporters after the closing ceremony of the Penang World Hospitality, Lifestyle and Entertainment (WHOLE) 2020, which was graced by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow here today.

Mohd Shah Nuri said by using the app, human-to-human contact could be reduced.

So far, he said the app had helped detected 322 individuals who were tested positive for COVID-19, not including their close contacts.
