UMNO Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin welcomed the magnanimous attitude of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak Najib to reconcile to strengthen UMNO ties.

Subsequently, he hoped that measures would be taken to solve the problems that he had raised.

"It is good that the president showed magnanimous attitude, so after this I want to see steps that will be taken to solve the problems," he told reporters after attending the closing ceremony of the UMNO General Assembly 2015 at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here, today.

Najib, who is also UMNO president and prime minister in his winding up speech at the assembly said he was magnanimous in strengthening UMNO's unity through reconciliation.

He however stressed that if the offer was turned down by his detractors, then they were not opposing him on a personal capacity but rejecting the UMNO delegates' wishes.

Muhyiddin, who was dropped from the Cabinet in July because he criticised Najib on the 1MDB issue and the RM2.6 billion political fund, said that the issues often raised by him was in the interest of the people and not personal in nature.

"That is not my problem, but this is the problem of the people so that they will have confidence and will not have any prejudice (against him)," said Muhyiddin.

Asked why he was reluctant to reconcile on the matter, he said there was no quarrel (in this matter), on the contrary it was a matter of struggle in pointing out the weaknesses of the leadership which should be accepted openly by everyone.

Meanwhile, UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal described the relationship with the party president was still maintained and remained strong as before.
