UMNO Youth wants young Malays to form an identity with a broader struggle and more precise abilities to achieve the aspirations of the National Transformation (TN50).
Its chief Khairy Jamaluddin said only with a shift in philosophy and identity, following the changing times, could all the achievements and successes hoped for by the Malays 30 years from now, be realised.
"Because of our vision, TN50 Malays, mighty Malays, mighty not only via combat and shouts but of bravery of a substantial nature, not hiding behind the wall and tradition. Malays who do not doubt their own abilities.
"In conclusion, a Malay who craves for greater heights of glory rather than fearing the risk of failing. Believe me, a playsafe race, despite 100 years of independence, will go nowhere," he said when delivering his policy speech at the UMNO Youth General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here, today.
He said the time has come for UMNO Youth to go down to the field and approach youths and understand their aspiration for 2050.
Khairy drew the attention of the delegates when he stated his worry concerning Malay youths who did not like to read but were engrossed with television programmes. -- BERNAMA
