Husni Hanadzlah to contest as Independent is mere speculation - Zambry

The rumour that the Tambun Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, who was formerly Second Finance Minister, would contest as an Independent candidate in the 14th General Election (GE14) is merely a speculation.

Perak UMNO Liaison chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the issue was deliberately raised by the opposition to take advantage on the position of Ahmad Husni who no longer held any position in the government nor party.

"I believe the opposition is trying to fish in troubled waters by deliberately creating the rumour...that's normal with the opposition.

"But, knowing Datuk Seri Husni, it didn't come from horse's mouth, I consider that the issue is just a speculation because I don't think he will do that," he said.

Zambry, who is also Perak Menteri Besar, disclosed this to reporters after attending a meeting with members of the Tambun UMNO divisional committee here today.

Ahmad Husni resigned as Second Finance Minister on June 27 last year before Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced a Cabinet reshuffle.

The Tambun UMNO division deputy head Datuk Aminuddin Md Hanafiah, who is also the State Assemblyman for Hulu Kinta, is now acting as the division head. -- Bernama
