KUALA LUMPUR: PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim denied that he had issued a statement offering to resign as Pakatan Harapan chairman if he fails to prove he commands majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.
He said the fake statement, purportedly 'confirmed' by MPs in the PH coalition, was clearly intended to create confusion.
"This irresponsible action was clearly made to cause confusion among various parties," Anwar's office told Astro AWANI on Saturday.
The Malaysiakini portal reported that four MPs claimed that Anwar had promised to resign from PH if he fails to prove he commands majority support in the Dewan Rakyat.
Anwar reportedly made the 'promise' on Thursday in a meeting with opposition MPs after the Dewan Rakyat passed the second reading of Budget 2021
