Abdul Hadi must be given a chance to explain himself, says Azmin

PAS President, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang should be given a chance to explain himself to the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Presidential Council, says PKR vice-president Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Azmin said this in reference to the turmoil within the coalition following a decision taken by PAS to pass the amendments made to the Syariah Criminal Code II 1993 at the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly last week, as reported by the Star Online.

Following the decision made at the assembly, DAP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) is reported to have lost trust and confidence in Abdul Hadi and will end ties and cease to work with him. The party’s secretary-general Lim Guan Eng also called Abdul Hadi’s decision as ‘dishonest and dishonourable acts’.

“We understand DAP’s decision to end ties with PAS President, but Abdul Hadi should be given a chance to explain himself.

“Abdul Hadi must be present at the Pakatan Rakyat Presidential Council to explain the issues that were being brought up by the CEC and PKR recently,” Azmin spoke to reporters after launching the state’s Hijrah Selangor programme.

Azmin said, PR wants to know from Abdul Hadi himself why the decision was made unilaterally and violated the spirit of consensus.

“I believe PAS leadership will advise Abdul Hadi on how we can find a common ground on this matter,” said Azmin.
