Gerakan secretary-general Teng Chang Yeow predicted a 40-60 chance of winning the Penang state in the 13th General Election (GE-13).
According to Teng in an English daily, Gerakan is looking into two critical issues which are the major problems for most Penangites.
“We’re looking into the housing issue where many people in the middle-income bracket cannot afford property.
“We’ll also look into the problem of traffic congestion that is not being addressed by DAP,” Teng said in the New Sunday Times today.
On the rising cost of living, Teng said if the current government there fails to solve the issue, the people will suffer.
“DAP is making policies but they don’t plan. It keeps up with the rhetoric that it will provide affordable housing but they cannot follow through,” Teng said.
He added that with their moderate approach and multiracial thinking, Gerakan has a clear vision of what they intend to do if the win as they pledged to fulfil their promises.
“I always tell my members, ‘If we work hard and move towards the same direction, we can win the battle. We must condition ourselves to think positively and have the confidence to win’”, said Teng.
