News on incumbent Pandan MP Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat not being listed as a posible candidate in MCA's election list has received mixed reactions from social media users.

The news came about after MCA president Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek said Ong, who has held the seat for five terms did not have the support from all the component parties in his constituency.

Many of Ong’s supporters and non-supporters expressed their thoughts on the matter through Twitter.

While many expressed shocked, some registered no surprise and others suggested Ong should contest under the opposition banner.

On Wednesday Chua said that Ong does not even have the support from his own division.

Chua said 39-year-old lawyer Gary Lim is MCA's choice of candidate for the constituency.

According to Chua, Lim does not have any 'baggage' or accumulated political enemies like the other seasoned politicians.

Chua also said he could not stop Ong from contesting as an independent, and that it might even benefit Barisan Nasional to split votes for the Opposition.
