Zulkifli's widow receive PM's condolence letter

The widow of Zulkifli Mamat, a police officer who was killed in a shootout against terrorists in Lahad Datu last Friday, was touched to receive a condolence letter from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at her mother-in-law's house in Kampung Kubang Ikan near Jerteh here late yesterday evening.
Noraziah Nor, 29, said she and her family were indebted to all parties especially to Najib and his wife for facilitating the transporting of her husband's body as well as other aid to her and her family since the incident took place, including a posthumous promotion of her husband to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
"I would like to thank the Prime Minister for his condolence letter and I will not forget the good deeds of the Prime Minister and his wife as well as the government," she told reporters covering the delivery of the letter by Terengganu police chief Datuk Jamshah Mustapa.
The simple letter presentation ceremony were also witnessed by Noraziah's mother-in-law, Khatijah Ismail, 64 as well as Zulkifli's eldest brother, Zaidi Mohamed Mamat.
Also present were Besut police chief Supt Kamaruddin Zakaria and his deputy DSP Noorzainy Mohd Noor as well as Besut IPD senior police officers.
At the brief ceremony, Jamshah presented a contribution from Terengganu state police contingent personnel and their families and an album of pictures taken when the body of ASP Zulkifli arrived at the Gong Kedak Royal Malaysian Air Force base right to his burial at the Gong Bayor cemetery.
Meanwhile, Jamshah said he had been directed by the Prime Minister to represent the government and Cabinet Ministers to hand over the condolence letter on the loss of ASP Zulkifli who died while defending the sovereignty of the country to his widow.
"This shows the Prime Minister places utmost importance on the welfare of every security personnel who sacrifices his life in defending the country," he said.
In this regard, he said individuals and parties who wish to contribute to the family of the late police officer could channel them through the Terengganu Police Contingent Head Office.
Among the contributions announced earlier included the Terengganu state government with RM50,000 and Sabah state government for RM100,000 which would be arranged by Bukit Aman police.
