Those aged 16 and above still have the chance to obtain the B2 motorcycle licence through the MyLesen programme until December, said Road Transport Department (RTD) deputy director-general (Management) Datuk Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman.

He said the programme which was organised by RTD was aimed at helping school students to get a valid motorcycle licence at a lower cost as compared with the payment charged by driving schools.

"The allegation that this programme takes a longer time is not true because it offers a similar period as being offered by driving schools," he told reporters after closing the Besut district level One Community One RTD programme in Pasir Akar here Saturday.

He said as part of the efforts to ensure school students obtained a valid motorcycle licence, RTD in collaboration with the Education Ministry had launched the RTD Cadet programme at several schools in August.

In another development, Wan Ahmad Uzir said RTD had issued 2,583 notices to motorists driving on emergency lanes nationwide. -- Bernama
