Yayasan 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has contributed a total of RM360,000 in education fund for the 19 children of the six policemen slain while defending the country in Lahad Datu, Sabah early this year.
1MDB corporate social responsibility vice-president Azura Annuar said the contribution was an initiative to ensure the children were able to continue their education uninterrupted, despite their personal loss.
"This is a small act on our part to help the families of those who gave their lives to defend the country," she said in a statement here today.
The six policemen who were killed in an ambush at Kampung Simunul in Semporna were Superintendant Ibrahim Lebar (Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur), Assistant Superintendant Micheal Padel (Semporna), Sergeant Baharin Hamit (Sabah police headquarters), Sergeant Aziz Sarikun (Tawau), Corporal Salam Togiran (Tawau police headquarters) and Lance Corporal Mohd Azrul Tukiran (Tawau).
