A 65-year-old woman was burnt to death in a fire that destroyed her house in the water village in Pangi Hujung, Kunak, Tawau early today, according to the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department.

The body of Napsah Araki was found near the front door of the house following the fire that occurred at 2.20 am, said department public relations officer Mohd Affendy K. Ramin.

He said the body was sent to the Kunak Hospital.

The cause of the fire and damage had yet to be ascertained, he said in a statement.

Mohd Affendy said 10 fire and rescue personnel were rushed to the scene at 2.24 am and the fire was brought under control at 2.54 am.
