1MDB claims it has not received any notification or confirmation from BNM of the request for documental proof of its overseas investment totalling US$1.83 billion.
1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) claimed it did not receive any official notification or confirmation from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) on the request for documentation on its overseas investments of US$1.83 billion.
In a statement late Wednesday, the state development fund said it was unable to comment on the issue that was raised by BNM Governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz earlier.
"1MDB has not yet received any official correspondence or confirmation from BNM on the specific matters attributed to the Governor today. We are, therefore, unable to comment further.
"However, we highlight that 1MDB has in the course of the past 12 months, fully cooperated to the extent possible with BNM investigations, including providing documentary evidence where available.
"1MDB is committed to continued cooperation with BNM and will provide any further information that may be required by BNM, to the extent that 1MDB has in its possession or is possible under the law," 1MDB said.
Earlier Wednesday, Zeti had said BNM would pursue administrative action against 1MDB for the latter's failure to furnish documents to prove that the US$1.83 billion investment that was supposed to be brought back to Malaysia, had been used for its restructuring plans and to pay off debts.
Zeti had said the central bank had asked 1MDB to furnish the documents since last October, but the Finance Ministry-owned company had yet to do so.
