RAWANG:Water supply is expected to be restored gradually starting Wednesday if effluent (wastewater) pollution can be cleansed tonight, said Selangor Exco for Tourism, Environment and Green Technology, Indigenous Affairs and Non-Islamic Affairs (HESI), Hee Loy Sian.

He said the latest reading of the Threshold Value Odor Number (TON) of water pollution at the Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plant (LRA) is found to have decreased from 8 TON to 4 TON, while SSP LRAs 1,2 and 3 are still at the 4 TON level.

"We expect that if it recovers tonight, the LRAs will still not be able to process for water supply even if the reading is at the level of 0 TON. This is because we have standards from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).

"The restoration of water supply is expected tomorrow morning but in stages, it will take 10 hours from the first area if we resolve this issue tonight," he explained during a visit to the Taman Volex Sewage Treatment Plant (IWK), Rawang this evening.
