KUALA LUMPUR: The no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin does not mean that UMNO MPs support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister.
That is the view of one of the UMNO MPs who requested anonymity.
He explained that regardless of what movement that exists at this time, he would respect any decision by the party.
"We do not care whether this candidate is Tengku Razaleigh or Anwar Ibrahim, what is important is that the support decision must come from the party.
"I am a party man, any decision by the party, I will follow. The vote of no confidence (against Muhyiddin) does not mean that support will be given to Anwar.
"Let’s wait for the party's decision. No matter how many movements want to exist, I am waiting for the decision of the leadership.
"When I say top leadership, it means it is not among the 'small fry' of the party, it must be a decision from the Supreme Council (MT)," he told Astro AWANI.
At the same time, he confirmed that he did not know about the movement led by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah who allegedly had the majority support to become prime minister.
"No one called me, no one informed me anything. There is no need for me to comment on things I do not know its veracity," he said.
